During watercolour landscapes, we will travel the length and breadth of the British Isles to find inspiration in rolling hills, rugged coasts, gentle streams and jaunty harbours. Each week we will focus on a particular 'kind' of landscape that is synonymous with rural Britain, and practice ways of putting paint to paper in a way that evokes the spirit of our rural countryside. You will be able to take part in basic watercolour painting kit - such as a set of pans, a handful of brushes, a sponge, jar of water and some watercolour paper - but a full list of recommended materials will be provided. Between classes you will be encouraged to post your work on our private image sharing site, so that friendly and constructive feedback can be provided both by the tutor and between fellow participants. At the end of the 5 weeks you will have gained experience in the variety of ways that paint can be put to paper, to evoke the mood and atmosphere of the natural world. This class is suited to those with a little experience in watercolour painting, as well as absolute beginners.
