Multi-Block Linocut: 3-Day Printmaking Workshop

In this three-day workshop, you’ll have the time and space to fully absorb the principles of multi-block linocut and create your very own two-layer print—from initial design to final inking.

Multi-block linocut involves carving a separate lino block for each colour in your design. Unlike reduction printing (where all colours are cut from the same block), this method gives you more flexibility: you can experiment with colour variations, print your blocks in different sequences, and—perhaps most excitingly—place colours side by side as well as layered. This opens up opportunities to blend transparent hues directly on the paper, giving the illusion of a wider colour palette.

Over the three days, I’ll guide you through each stage of the process—helping you craft a strong, dynamic design, choose colours that work in harmony, and explore advanced techniques like colour blending and alternative inking methods. This is my lieblings-subject (favourite topic!), and I’m excited to share why I love multi-block printing so much.
